Come experience Westside Players on Tuesday, October 8 from 7-9 p.m. at Gulfside Pavilion. Westside Players originated as a duo of guitar/vocals and piano performing the Standards, which are compositions from the great composers of the '30s, '40s, '50s, often identified as the Great American Songbook. This includes compositions of Cole Porter, Irvin Berlin, Harry Warren, Duke Ellingtion, George & Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Hoagie Carmichael, Nat King Cole, and a host of others.
The group has increased its repertoire to include current styles of funky infectious groove tunes, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Smooth Jazz, Latin, Rock, Reggae, & Ballroom dance tunes, which has broadened Westside Players' palette and created a bridge to the vast breadth of the past - this makes for an intriguing combination of styles. The music to be played for Bands on the Beach will give its audience a taste of these diverse styles played by some of Pensacola's most talented musicians.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority.
